Content is Crucial: Award-winning Training - Should You Care?

September 25, 2019
By Media Partners
We often promote the fact that our films are “award-winning" because it really does mean something when an independent organization deems content as worthy of recognition. In this post (Part 3 of our Content is Crucial Series), we examine how organizations and learners benefit from programs that have been honored for cinematic excellence…including both of Media Partners’ newest releases.

Awards blog

It’s the weekend. You’re wondering what to do. The weather report is lousy, so – hey! Let’s watch a movie! What shall we see? What does the movie-rating website Rotten Tomatoes have to say about our options?

Awards – whether a 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, or an Oscar, Grammy, People’s Choice, Nobel Prize – whatever’s appropriate for the format (movie, song, podcast, literature, respectively) – we value these awards and we pay attention to the winners.

  • Academy Award-winning movies are movies that people remember. They become classics. Friends host watch parties. Box-office sales increase dramatically.
  • Bestselling books are talked about, read, brought into book clubs for discussion, and assigned as required reading in classrooms.
  • Award-winning podcasts rank higher in search results and get more attention, more listeners, and spread their message further.

Media Partners’ training videos win awards.

So what? Nice for us, right, but who else cares? You should care if you’re looking for quality training content. You should care if you want programs that go beyond the legally-mandated checkboxes to actually engage and entertain while also impacting behavior.

Let’s face it: many training videos are ridiculously hokey or excruciatingly tedious.

But Media Partners’ video How Was Your Day: Getting Real About Bias, Inclusion, Harassment and Bullying has racked up eight awards so far, and our most-recent release, Once & For All: Stopping Sexual Harassment at Work, is already up to six.

Of course we’re delighted. But not because of the pat on the back. We’re delighted because this means we’re consistently delivering memorable, impactful content to you and your employees. We’re delighted because award-winning movies – whether in the theater or on your LMS – create shifts in people’s thoughts, feelings, and behavior.

Will your employees pay more attention to a training video that’s won awards? ...Yes.
Why? Because awards are social proof that the content is exceptional, worth paying attention to, meaningful, and memorable – the exact opposite of hokey and yawn-worthy.

Training videos win awards because they excel at changing attitudes and behavior – just as our video, How Was Your Day, is changing viewers’ attitudes and behavior around unconscious bias, diversity and inclusion, harassment, and bullying. And our Once & For All is helping prevent sexual harassment.
